Advertiser Content Policy

Standards and guidelines governing all advertisements placed through the Adexpo platform.

Last updated: April 2025

1. Purpose

Adexpo is a marketplace built on trust — trust between advertisers, space owners, and the communities where advertisements are displayed. This policy exists to ensure that every advertisement on our platform is legal, honest, safe, and respectful of local cultural and community standards, particularly in Chennai and the areas we serve.

2. Who This Applies To

This policy applies to:

  • All advertisers who book spaces through the Adexpo platform.
  • All advertisement creatives — including images, text, QR codes, and any printed or digital materials — submitted for display on booked spaces.
  • Any third-party agencies booking on behalf of a client, where the agency bears full responsibility for compliance.

3. Permitted Advertising

Adexpo supports a wide range of advertising categories, including but not limited to:

  • Local businesses — retail, food, services, and professional practices.
  • Events — cultural, educational, sports, and community gatherings.
  • Products and services that are legally sold and marketed in India.
  • Brand awareness and launch campaigns.
  • Educational institutions, coaching centres, and skill development programmes.
  • Government and public interest announcements that comply with applicable regulations.

4. Prohibited Content

The following categories of content are strictly prohibited on the Adexpo platform:

4.1 Illegal Products or Services

  • Content advertising products or services that are illegal under Indian law, including unlicensed pharmaceuticals, narcotics, or counterfeit goods.
  • Advertisements that promote illegal gambling, unauthorised financial schemes, or multi-level marketing without regulatory approval.

4.2 Alcohol & Tobacco

  • Direct advertising of alcohol or tobacco products is prohibited in line with Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act restrictions and applicable state regulations in Tamil Nadu.
  • Surrogate advertising that is clearly a proxy for an alcohol or tobacco brand is equally prohibited.

4.3 Political Content

  • Advertisements in support of or against any political party, political candidate, or electoral campaign are not permitted on the platform at this time.
  • This restriction applies during both election periods and non-election periods.

4.4 Sexually Explicit or Suggestive Content

  • Any content that is sexually explicit, obscene, or that depicts nudity is strictly prohibited.
  • Content that is suggestive or inappropriate in a public space context — particularly near schools, places of worship, or residential areas — will be rejected at the review stage.

4.5 Discriminatory or Hateful Content

  • Advertisements that promote discrimination on the basis of religion, caste, gender, race, nationality, sexual orientation, disability, or age are prohibited.
  • Content that incites hatred, violence, or communal tension will result in immediate account termination and may be reported to authorities.

4.6 Misleading or Fraudulent Advertising

  • Advertisements must not contain false claims, fabricated endorsements, or misleading price representations.
  • Use of before/after claims, clinical or health benefit claims, or comparative advertising must comply with the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) guidelines.

4.7 Content Harmful to Minors

  • Any content that is inappropriate for children or that exploits, sexualises, or endangers minors is strictly prohibited and will be reported to the relevant authorities.

5. Content Review Process

All advertisement creatives are subject to review before they are approved for display. Our process works as follows:

  • Submission: Advertisers upload final creatives at the time of booking or within the deadline specified in the booking confirmation.
  • Review window: Our team reviews submitted creatives within 48 hours of receipt.
  • Approval or rejection: Advertisers are notified of approval or rejection with a reason. Rejected creatives may be revised and resubmitted once.
  • Final decision: Adexpo reserves the sole right to approve or reject any creative without obligation to provide detailed justification beyond the relevant policy clause.

6. Space Owner Rights

Space Owners retain the right to:

  • Review the category and general nature of advertisements before confirming a booking.
  • Decline booking requests from advertisers whose content they reasonably believe conflicts with their property's community context — for example, content that may be offensive to neighbours or residents.
  • Report any approved advertisement that they believe was misrepresented during booking.

Adexpo will mediate disputes between Space Owners and Advertisers regarding content in good faith.

7. Takedown Policy

If a live advertisement is found to violate this policy — whether reported by a Space Owner, a community member, or identified by our team — Adexpo will:

  • Notify the Advertiser within 24 hours of the violation being confirmed.
  • Require removal of the advertisement within 48 hours of notification.
  • Suspend the advertiser's account pending review for repeat violations.
  • Issue no refund for bookings terminated due to policy violations.

8. Reporting a Violation

If you believe an advertisement on the platform violates this policy, please report it immediately by emailing adexpoadmin@gmail.com with the subject line "Content Violation Report", along with the listing ID or location of the advertisement and a brief description of the concern.

We treat all reports seriously and will respond within 48 hours.

9. Policy Updates

This policy will evolve as the platform grows and as advertising regulations in India develop. Advertisers will be notified of material changes via email. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
